this is not the best choice for outdoor use
but for indoor it's perfect |
Aquaponics are half garden half aquarium. The whole point is that the
fish water circulates up to the plants up above and fertilizes the
plant with fish water (water with fish poop in it), this helps the
plants to grow faster, bigger and tastier. We have had one BIG problem
and this problem was with the timer.
One day i was going to the aquaponic when i noticed that the water was
higher than usual so i told Dad and i fixed the mechanical timer but the
next morning it happened again!!!
So we decided to get an electronic
timer, we spent some time setting the timer up and placing it in the
power socket and now the aquaponic is up and working,
To have a more reliable timer, get an electronic one not a mechanical
one because it rusts an bugs crawl into the mechanics and stop it
working so an electronic one is better.
Here are some recomended fish types for
aquaponics:

Now i'm going to explain a little more abut aquaponics.
The name aquaponic comes from the two words aqua and pond. The diagram actually explains

most of it, as you can see the water from the fish tank goes up through
the tubes under the grow bed, waters the roots of the plants then comes
back down into the fish tank and then the cycle continues. In the
diagram, you can see a pump in the bottom right corner. This pump powers
everything. Now, about that timer. The timer is a key property in an
aquaponic, the timer sets when the pump pumps water to the garden, of
course it can't do it all the time, the plants would've died. So this is
when we come to the timer. A good set time is it pumps water every two
hours and every two hours the pump will pump water for fifteen minutes
and then stop. This is all programmed on the device to the right. For
example on 9on it will be 16:00 and at 9off it will be 16:15. This is
how you program all the ons and offs.
