Flow Hive......Good or Bad?

the flow hive

There has been a lot of buzz going on about the flow hive, if it's good or bad. There are two sides to the argument, good and bad

The flow hive is cute and lets you harvest honey without accidentally killing bees and destroying all of the bees hard earned comb. The flow hive has plastic comb panels which crack open and honey pours out. The bees replace a little bit of the comb, put honey in it  and then seal it. This is a cycle w                                                    which allows you to

get the maximum amount of honey. Although you don't have to toil to get honey, you still have to undertake regular inspections to queen fertility and check for small hive beetles and other nasties.

The flow hive is bad because it imprints an image that you don't have to care about your bees anymore and generally promotes the consumeristic take on keeping bees. Just pour the honey and forget about the bees wellbeing. Even the Professional Bee Keeping Association BANNED them from bringing the Flow Hive to the Easter Show in Australia because they thought that the flow hive would create an outbreak of hive beetles due to not maintaining and checking the hive. This should mean something, right? Modern bee keepers should be using the old, proven traditional way of collecting honey which has been used for a long time.
We have lots of experience with bees because we keep them! I have to say that your honey tastes better when you try hard for it instead of just pulling a tap.

The sides have spoken, which side do you choose? Make the right decision and save the bees.
