Bumblebees, Australian native bees and wasps

These insects are usually titled pests but that is not completely true, let's start with the one people hate the most: wasps

WASPS

Wasps are the most common ones that people are trying to get rid of but the truth is that even if you do destroy the colony nest then the wasps will move about five metres and start another nest going. So trying to kill them is pointless. Wasps are actually pretty good! They kill caterpillars and they are practically harmless if you don't agitate their nests on purpose. If you do I suggest that you run.A common wasp in Australia are the Paper Wasps. Paper Wasps have an extremely  painful bite and may produce serious reactions to people who are allergic to the venom. Removing a paper wasp nest may be DANGEROUS  so don't try to spray them with a hose. Just try to avoid them by walking around them but if they are inside the house the you  might have a problem. We have paper wasps around our house and they don't bother us at all! I can just stand right next to their nest and they won't mind. Trying to remove a wasp nest is kind of pointless since they will just move to an area close by.

BUMBLE BEES

In the picture you might see a cute little bumble bee but that flying fluffballs numbers are declining. Whole bumble bee colonies started dying overnight for reasons still not known but it looked liked the adult bees left to collect pollen and never came back. Scientists are trying to find the cause of their bumblepocalypse.

NATIVE AUSTRALIAN BEES

this creature might look like a fly but is actually a very important bee. These bees are very important because these little critters pollinate the plant bigger european bees can't get into. For example Canola flowers would be hard for a european bee and it would probably get stuck but the native bee can easily get in and out of the flowers slim throat. If you want to get some of these then bundle some bamboo or hollow sticks with a rope and put in a big brick on both sides. This a good house for the native bees. Another thing people love about native australian bees is that they don't sting but bite ( a bee biting you is less painful than a bee stinging you )
